Water and sewer service is provided by the City of Chatfield. If you need to start service, please call (507) 867-3810 and provide your name, address, phone number, and effective date to begin service. If you have city services, and are moving, be sure to call and request a final reading for the final bill.

Residents are billed monthly. Water and sewer service is metered and billed based on usage.

How do I sign up?
Simply complete and return the Direct Utility Payment Authorization Form (one for each property) and include a voided check (for checking accounts) or a savings deposit slip (for savings accounts).
How soon will the automatic payments start?
The deduction should begin with the next billing cycle (monthly). Your bill will state "DIRECT BANK PAY'T" which indicates the automatic deduction has begun.
When will the payment be transferred from my checking or savings account?
It will be transferred on the due date printed on the bill.
How can I be sure my bill has been paid?
Your monthly bank statement will clearly reflect the automatic payment.
What if I change banks or accounts?
You can download the direct payment form from the City's Utility Billing page or call us at 507-867-3810 and request that a new Direct Payment Plan form be mailed to you. Simply complete and return this new authorization form and include a new voided check (for checking accounts) or a savings deposit slip (for savings accounts).
What if I want to cancel the direct payment authorization?
You can cancel your authorization for automatic payment at any time. Simply notify us in writing regarding your cancellation.
If I don't sign up now, will I be able to enroll later?
Yes, You can download your own form from the City's web page or call us at 507-867-3810 and reques that a Direct Payment Authorization form be mailed to you.
